No Bank Account
One of the many negative reputations that religious groups have gotten is that they are simply a money-making venture that preys on emotional need. Unfortunately, in a number of cases, this is true. Even groups that start out with a sincere passion and honorable goals eventually get trapped in the need to sustain the economic machine that they've become. Eventually, the bottom line often becomes the bottom line.
We believe that God uses money to build ministries in both our own group and the broader community. We're convinced that He uses economic circumstances to guide us in one direction while diverting us from another one. But, we want to keep that in God's hands.
We never want to be in the place where we need money to conduct ministry. Instead, we always want to be where God is providing the resources to support His agenda through us. We never want to force our agenda by demanding our expenses be met. Instead, we want to be led by God and follow the directions of ministry that He is leading us in.
Throughout the Bible, there is never an example of the leadership taking a collection of funds to be managed at their private discretion. The collection of money is always in response to a specific need. That's why we don't have, want, or need a bank account.
